I would note as well that if you are a REPUBLICAN running for state or local office, you don't want your election/reelection screwed up by Trump. In some cases, terms expire in November or December (not January like for Congress & the President), so if there is a delay in certifying election results, that will affect other candidates.
As I mention to everyone, the best way to assure free, fair elections is to volunteer to be a pool worker or poll watcher! I've done posts on that process.
In my "to do" stack is to write about post-election audits. In the meantime, here's the basics, https://www.ncsl.org/elections-and-campaigns/risk-limiting-audits. And a more detailed look, https://www.nist.gov/system/files/documents/2025/03/31/A_Gentle_Introduction_to_Risk-Limiting_Audits.pdf. Here's Virginia's report on their process, https://www.elections.virginia.gov/media/formswarehouse/risk-limiting-audit/2025-November-General-RLA-Report_FINAL.pdf
Also look at this piece & examine some of the election procedure manuals. https://sharonlawrence.substack.com/p/elections-how-elections-work-detailed
