Although many people are absorbed by countering the actions of the Trump Administration, it’s imperative that we also tackle the substantive reforms that many/most experts believe are imperative for governance in America. That’s particularly important now that candidates are considering/announcing for the key 2026 midterm elections and the thousands of other state (i.e., New Jersey and Virginia) and local government elections in 2025.
Toward that end, see the attached PDF for additional examples of the most provocative thinking on essential reforms.[1]
“I think that we should stop looking at this so much as a left-right fight within our caucus — so many voters don’t even think about it that way — and think of it more as a bottom-up fight where we can unite the vast majority of the country against the small number of people that are screwing them over in their government and their workplaces.”
Greg Casar, US House of Representatives, Texas – District 35; Chair, Progressive Caucus[2]
I always hated the term people of color along with Latino, hispanic ... . They are only useful to pollsters, politicians, advertisers and journalists. There is no commonality within the groups. Mexicans are not like Cubans or Nicaraguans. Even Mexicans who have lived in this country for years are nothing like recent immigrants from Mexico.
The terms give pollsters something to poll about and political consultants something to target and journalist an easy way to lump people together. The groups provide no valid description of values. The terms provide a way for pollsters, politicians, consultants and journalists to display just how intelligent and valuable they are. (While providing no actual value.)
The more I read the more I like the phrase "Billionaires Suck". There is a group of really wealthy people controlling the message via the media and the political parties. https://BillionairesSuck.me. I wish every car had as sticker with that message. It would redirect the anger from both Democrats and Republicans to the root cause of the problems (Billionaires controlling the message to benefit billionaires.)
And then maybe both parties could restructure around issues that you and I are actually concerned about.
Excellent article, this Graphic Diagram is a great tool. Good Job, Sharon, and will reStack ASAP 💯👍
