Issue Insights: Tariffs

In my view, the discussion about President Trump’s tariff proposals have been crippled by a lack of reference materials to help the public understand this incredibly complex policy area. To fill that gap, I prepared the attached Issue Brief. To the greatest extent possible, I’ve attempted to cover all of the facets of the tariff proposals (e.g., financial impact, legal issues, and statistics) in one ready reference document.
Of course, I’m trying to hit a moving target, so stay alert for what I anticipate will be frequent updates.
